'Candid' Candace Jordan to receive award for 'Excellence in Media'

Congratulations to Chicago Star Media Associate Publisher, “Candid” Candace Jordan, who will be the recipient of the “2024 Excellence in Media” award. She will be honored at the Dream Awards on Saturday, May 18, at the Kehrein Center for the Arts (5628 W. Washington Blvd.), along with the following recipients:
Hosea Sanders (Media & TV); George Daniels (Living Legend); Joan Collaso (Music); Jayne Kennedy Overton (Icon); Tracey Bell (Trailblazer); Tony Caseau (Luminary); Billy Brown (Lifetime Achievement) and Gene Chandler (Living Legend).
The Dream Awards, produced by Mable Buckner (Harrison Entertainment), honors legends in Music, Media, Journalism, Film, Television, Communications and Entertainment. As a nonprofit, the Dream Awards also provides scholarships to students who are pursuing a degree in these areas.
The black-tie event will be hosted by TV personality Cheryl Burton, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Building Brighter Futures for the Arts. There will be tributes to Curtis Mayfild Diana Ross, Koko Taylor , Lou Rawls, Tyrone Davis and more. (For tickets and more information, click here.)
